WILLMAR — Francis “Frank” Patrick Cain, 63, of Willmar died Friday at Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar.
The service is at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of St. Mary in Willmar. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Murdock, with military honors by the Robert Ihland American Legion Post 537 of New London.
Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home, with a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation continues at the church Tuesday for one hour before the service.
He was born May 13, 1943, in Benson to Peter and Alice (Langsdorf) Cain. He lived with his family south of DeGraff until 1952, when they moved to Willmar. He received his education at Willmar schools. In 1967 he joined the U.S. Army, serving two years in Germany, two tours of duty in Vietnam and later at Fort Hood, Texas.
In April 1967 he married Vera Gullickson in Willmar. He was discharged from the military in 1971 and returned to the Willmar area for a short time before moving to Minneapolis. He lived in Minneapolis until 1997, when he moved to Duluth. In November 2005 he returned to Willmar. He was a member of the Willmar Eagles Club.
He is survived by two daughters, Brenda (and Johnny) Guess of Salem, Ala., and Tonya (and John) Lieser of Belgrade; three grandsons; nine brothers, Peter Jr. (and Verna) Cain of Alexandria, Donald (and Sharon) Cain of Willmar, Richard (and Iris) Cain of Willmar, William (and Jacquelyn) Cain of Willmar, Timothy Cain of Portland, Ore., Lawrence (and Beverly) Cain of Willmar, Patrick (and Corby) Cain of Willmar, Michael (and Pam) Cain of Kandiyohi and Robert Cain of Willmar; and four sisters, Catherine Hay of Willmar, Rose (and Douglas) Zetah of Willmar, Patricia (and Henry) Ritz of Willmar and Louise Leason of Willmar; and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by three brothers.
