Charles Bunce of Manchester, Hartford Co., guardian of Ellen Cadwell of
Manchester, minor, who is the owner of real estate in Manchester, one piece
bounded north on land of Harriet Hills, East on land of Joseph & George
Spencer, south partly on land of Harriet Hills & land of said Ellen Cadwell &
west on highway containing 24 1/2 acres.
One other piece bounded north on land of Joseph & George Spencer & land
of s'd Ellen, East on land of Joseph & George Spencer & land of Zebulon
Bidwell, South on land of Joseph Noyes & west on land of Joseph Noyes & land
of Harriet Hills, containing about 31? acres.
One other piece bounded North on land of Marvin Hills, East on land of
Marvin Hills, Samuel Arnold & Joseph Noyes, South on highway & west on land of
Abner Hills & Harriet Hills containing eleven acres.
Alos the other piece lying in the Town of East Hartford bounded North &
East on land of the heirs of Samuel B____, South on ditch & _____ & west on
land of Soloman Olmsted containing 2 1/4 acres.
Also as tenant in common with Harriet Hills your undivided half of two
acres of land with the buildings thereon lying in s'd town of Manchester
bounded as follows, viz, beginning at the Northwest corner of the home farm &
running south on the line of the highway 20 rods then turning easterly in a
line parallel to the north line of the lot 18 rods thence northerly in a line
parallel to the west line of the lot to the north line of the lot thence
westerly in the line of the highway to the first line & the whole piece lands
being valued at 1500 dollars. That said land cannot be advantageously
improved for the benefit of s'd minor & that it will provide her interest to
her the same and invest the proceeds according to law. Said guardian
therefore prays for liberty to sell said estate for the purpose aforesaid.

petition of Benjamin Gilbert of Hartford... that he is the guardian of George
W. Cadwell of Hartford in said district minor. That said minor is the owner
of real estate, situated in Hartford aforesaid viz. 2 several pieces of land
in common and undivided with other heirs to wit one piece of land with
dwelling house & other buildings thereon late the residence of Samuel Cadwell
dec'd containing about 46 acres valued at about $2000 bounded north on land
set to Rhoda Cadwell as her right of dower, east on highway, south on Solomon
S. Flagg & west on said Flagg. Also one other piece of land lying in Talcott
Mountain so called containing about 20 acres bounded north on Joel Steele east
on David W. Grant south on land unknown & weat on heirs of Oliver Kelsey dec'd
valued at about $700...

will: I George W. Cadwell, of the Town of West Harstford state of
Connecticut, do think it best while favored with sound mind, to dispose of my
property which I do in the following manner. to my much loved wife I give one
half of my real estate to be hers forever. also to my wife I give and
bequeath all of my personal property to be hers forever with one exception.
That is two hundred dollers now in the savings Bank that I give and bequeath
to my son Georgie A. Cadwell. also I give to my son all the rest of my real
estate to be his forever but if the said Georgie A. Cadwell should die before
he is of the age of 21 and his mother be a living it shall be hers to do with
as she may think best it is to be expected that all my debts be paid first.
as one of my executors to settle my estate I would appoint my wife Charlott A.
Cadwell.
Now before these witnesses I acknowledge this to be my last will and
testament so help me God.

dec'd two third of a House & Barn and 1 & 1/2 acres land joining the land
formerly the property of Mr. Thomas Cadwell late of Hartord dec'd... Hartford,
12 Jul 1792.

Return of sale of land: 28 Jul 1792... In pursuance of a decree of the Court
of Probate for the Dist. of Hartford the scubsciber adm'r on the estate of
Hezekiah Cadwell late of Hartford dec'd made sale of the following pieces of
land being part of the estate of said dec'd viz one piece of land situate in
West Hartford containing one and a half acre butting east on the highway south
on Seymour & Milliken and others wiest & north on land of the heirs of Thomas
Cadwell dec'd also one other piece containing 1 1/2 acre of land lying north
of the above described piece of land being part of the home lot of the s'd
Thomas Cadwell dec'd together with 2/3 of the dwelling house & 2/3 of the barn
of s'd dec'd as the same was distributed to the said Hezekiah both which
pieces of land and said dwellings were sold to Aaron Cadwell for L130.10.0

Also on 20 Mar 1797 I sold to s'd Aaron Cadwell 2/7 parts of the buildings set
out to the widow Mary Cadwell for her dower in the estate of Thomas Cadwell

Hartford Marth 12 1749: Distribution by David Hills, Jonathan Church, &
Jonathan Hanly.
Set to John Cadwell Eldest son heir to the dec'd 4 acres and 32 rod of
land at the west end of the home lot on wich stands the dweling house and the
widow third on the east part of that and the right in the dweling house 4
pounds 8 shilling and 10 pence and the widows third to come out of that.
To Matthew Cadwell heir to the dec'd 2 1/2 acres and 20 rods of land
lying in the wood on the south side of the lot it being land that the dec'd
bouth of Mr. Prat and the widows third at the west end if the law alows of it
his right in the house is 2 pound 4 shilling and five pence and the widow
third out of it.
To Ann Cadwell heir to the dec'd 2 acres and 16 rod of land in the home
lot in that part that was formerly Killoms Lot on the north side to begin at
the east end and to take half of the breadth and run west whilst make? s'd
Land by measure and the widow third to be taken at the west end of it and her
right in the house is 2 pounds 4 shilling and five pence and the widows third
to be taken out of it.
To Abigaill Fox wife to Vaniah Fox, Heir to the dec'd 2 acres and 16 rods
of land in the home lot on that port of it that was formerly Kilborns Lot
beginning at the East end on the south side taking half the bredth and to run
west whilst s'd land is measured and the widows third to come out of the west
end of it and right in the house is 2 pounds 4 shiling and 5 pence and the
widows third to come out of that.
To Ruth Risly wife to Nath'l Risly heir to dec'd 2 1/2 acres and 20 rod
of land in the woods on the north side of the home lot that the dec'd bought
of W'm Prat and the widows third [illegible] if the law alows of it to her
rite in the house 2 pounds 5 shilling and 5 pence and the widows third to come
out of that.
To Dorothy Cadwell heir to the dec'd 2 acres and 16 rod of land in the
home lot buting on land lyed out to John west and Running east whilst s'd land
is mesured out and the widows third on the west side of it and her part in the
house is 2 pounds 5 shiling and 5 pence and the widow third to come out of it.
To Susanah Cadwell heir to the dec'd 2 1/2 acres and 20 rods of land in
the whole buting south on [land] laid out to Mathew it being land that the
dec'd bought of Mr. Prat and the widows third out of it if the law alows of it
at the west end her part of the house is 2 pounds 4 shiling and 5 pence and
the widow third out of it.
To Luce Cadwell heir to the dec'd 2 1/2 acres and 20 rods of land lying
in wood north on land layd out to Ruth Risly and south on land layed out to
Susanah it being land [illegible] that the dec'd bought of Mr. Prat and the
widows third at the west end if the law alows of it to her part of the house 2
pounds 4 shilling and 5 pence and the widows third out of it.
Set out to the widow in moveable estate the sum of œ9-13-4.

paid to John Cadwell the eldest son, son Matthew Cadwell, and to Ann, Abigail,
Ruth, Dorthy, Susannah, & Luce Cadwell, daughters of s'd deceased.

In the Name of God amen I Jonathan Cadwell of Hartford in the county of
Hartford & Colony of Connecticut this 27 day of May 1761.
Being of sound mind and memory Blessed be God therefor taking into mind
my own mortality and knowing it is appointed for all men once to dye to make
and ordain this my last will and tewtament viz my Soul I Recommend to God who
Gave it and my Body to the Earth to a decent Christian Burial at the
Descretion of my Executor hereafter named touching such worldly Estate which
God hath Blessed me with I Give and Bequeath in the following manner and form.
Imprimis I Give & Bequeath to Bethiah my well Beloved wife the one moiety
or half part of my Moveable Estate to be at her Dispose forever & also the
improvement of the one moiety or half of my REal Estate during her natural
life.
Item I give and Bequeath to Joanna Cadwell widow of my nephew Jonathan
the Improvement of one certain piece of Land that I bought of Zachariah Kelsey
containing about 6 acres further my will is that she shall have one room with
a fire place in my dwelling house during her widowhood Further my will is
that she shall have a cow to her own disposle further my will is that she
shall have three sheep to her own disposle.
Item I Give & Bequeath to Zacheus Butler Eldest son to Gideon Butler the
one moiety of half part of my moveable Estate to be at his disposl forever
except what I have given to Joanna Cadwell widow as above said.
Item I Give & Bequeath to Zacheus Butler my Dwelling house & Barn & all
other buildings & orchard joining to the house to him & his heirs & assigns
forever.
Item I Give & Bequeath to Timothy Cadwell son to Jonathan Cadwell
deceased the orchard that was formerly my Brother Jeams Cadwells provided he
lives to the age of 21 years these fore mentioned orchard shall contain land
Equally a like measure to be at his dispose forever.
Item I Give & Bequeath to Zaccheus Butler as aforesaid the one half of
the rest of this Lot that I Live upon to him his heirs & assigns forever.
Furthermore my will is that Timothy Cadwell as aforesaid shall have the
other half of this Lot Equally Divided for quantity & quality between them to
him his heirs & assignes forever.
And all my other land shall be equally divided between them for quantity
and quality to them & their heirs for ever provided the aforesaid Timothy
Cadwell does arive to the age of 21 years.
Furthermore my will is that if the aforesaid Timothy Cadwell does not
arive to the age of 21 years that part that was given to him shall be Zacheus
Butlers as aforesaid his & his heirs forever.
Furthermore my will is the aforesaid Timothy Cadwell if he lives to age
of 21 years shall have a horse & a yoke of oxen & my still.
Item I hereby Will & bequeath to the Daughter of my s'd nephew Jonathan
Cadwell dec'd to Anne I suppose her name to be 20<?> pounds Lawful Money out
of my moveable Estate to be paid her by my Executor within one year after my
decease and the hores & oxen & my still given to Timothy Cadwell aforesaid, if
he should die before he arrive to 21 years & the s'd Anne survive then s'd
oxen horse & still to be the property of the s'd Anne.
I hereby appoint my Loving Wife Bethiah & my Kinsman Gideon Butler of
Hartford to be my Executors to my last Will & Testament and I hereby declare
this to be my last will & testament.

I Joseph Cadwell of Hartford town & County & State of Connecticut Being weake
in Body but of Sound disposing mind & Memory do make & ordain this as my last
will & teatament in Manner & form following & first I give & recommend my Sole
to God that gave it & my Body to the Earth to be Decently buried by my
Executor who shall be after named. after my funeral Charges & Just Debts are
Paid By my Executor I Give & Bequeath my Estate in Manner and form following.
Imprimis I Give & Bequeath to my Well beloved Wife Thankfull all my
Household furniture & wearing apparel and one Read white Back'd Cow to her for
Her one use & Disposal for Ever & the use & Improvement of one Half of my
Dwelling house & one Third of my Barn & all my Lands in the County of hartford
Except Sutch Pieces as I Shall dispose of by Deeds or order my Executor to
Sell.
Imprimus I Give & bequeth to my well beloved Son Joseph Cadwell the use &
improvement of all the Lands I own in the Town of Union & State of New York
During his Natural life.
Item I give & Bequeath to my well beloved grandsons Harry Cadwell &
Joseph Cadwell all my lands in the State of New York afore s'd after their
father's Decease for their one use & Disposal for Ever s'd Lands to be Equally
Divided between them.
Item I give & Bequeath to my Well beloved DAughter Amanda Alvord four
Acres of Land the East End of my mountain Lot beginning at Highway & running
West to make four acres Reserving the Privaledge of a Passway to the other
Lots Westward for her one use & Disposal for Ever.
Item I Give & Bequeath to my Well beloved Daughter Zilpha one certain
Piece of Land Lying in farmington butting East on land now willed to my
Daughter Amanda then Running Westward to the Second Cross fence Be the same
more or less to be her, for her one use and Disposal for Ever reserving a
Crossway Westward.
Item I give & Bequeath to my Well beloved Daughter Thankful one Certain
Piece of Land Butting East on Land now given to my Daughter Zilpha Then
Running Westward to the next fence containing about Eight acres be the same
more or Less to her for her one use & Disposal for ever Reserving a Crossway
Westward further more I give to my daughter Thankful my Brindle two year old
heifer to be her own & Ten Pounds to be Paid to my Son Nathan in one year
after my Decease.
Item I Give & Bequeath to my Well beloved Daughter Sabra Fielding five
pounds to be Paid by my Son Nathan in four years after my Decease for her one
use & disposal.
Item I give & Bequeath to my Well beloved Son Erastus Ten Pounds to
be Paid by my son Nathan within six years after my Decease to be for his one
use & disposal.
Item I Give & Bequeath to my Well beloved Grandson Sheldon Cadwell Twenty
Pounds to be Paid when he shall arrive to the age of twenty one but in case he
Should Not Live the s'd twenty Pounds shall be equally Divided between the two
other Children S'd Sum to be Paid out of my Estate by my Son Nathan.
Item I give to my Beloved Daughter Zilpha my Red Linded Calf to be hers
now & Eight Pounds to be Paid by my Son Nathan when She arrives to Eighten
years of age. Item I give & Bequeath
to My well beloved Son Nathan all My Estate Real & Personal not otherwise
Disposd of to be Put in to his Possession in good Repair By Executor when he
arrives to the age of one & twenty Except his Mothers Third of my real Estate
which Shall be his at her Decease for his one use & Disposal forever.
Item I make appoint My Well beloved Brother Aaron Cadwell My Sole
Executor to this my Last will & Testament Ordering & Impowering him to Sell
Convey & Dispose of two Pieces of Land bieng & lying near the house of William
Wheeler none [known] by the name of my young ordhard the South Part or Pice
Lyeth between the two Rodes the North Piece Cut of by the ___ Rode s'd Moneys
arising from the Sale of the s'd Lands & Moneys Due on three Notes against
Peletiah Alford & other Moneys that Shall be found Due to me to be applied to
the Payment of all my Just Debts & Funeral Charges & further I order My
Executor to Erect Decent Tomb Stones at my grave & further More if there is
any money Left of the Sales of s'd Land it shall be applied to the Payment of
the Legacys as they be Come Due further more it is my will that My Executor
Take the Care of my Sons Nathans Estate to keep it in Repair Lease it & Pay
the Legacies as they be Come Due while my Sone is under age further more if
the moneys assigned for the Payment of my Debts shall not be Sufficient my
Executor to pay them out of the rent of my son Nathans estate.

We the Subscribers being Appointed by the Hon'ble Court of Probate for the
district of Hartford to set out & distribute to Thankful Cadwell Widow to Mr.
Joseph Cadwell Late of Hartford deceased have Agreeable to our Appointment the
9th day of April 1798 distributed and Set out to the said Thankful that part
of the houses & Lands that the said deceased in his Last Will & Testament
devised unto her in the Following manner.
Viz, We Set out unto her - - -
The East half of the Dwelling hosue with the privilege of Useing the Cellar
Main Chamber Stairs & Garret Stairs in Common with Nathan Cadwell for to pass
& Repass to their Respective Apartments Also to Use the kitchen fire place &
oven in Common with Nathan. Also the Cellar under her half of the House
Reserving the priviledge to Nathan of passing & Repassing from the outer
Cellar door to his part of the Cellar & out of the North & East kitchen Doors,
& Also the New Cowhouse & Stable on the East side the Barn Floor with one
third part of the Use of said floor in Common with Nathan. Also the
Westermost half pen under the Cow house, Also one third part of the Use of the
Cider mill, Also one third part of the Use of the Wood house the Well front
door Yard Barnyard a Sufficent Cartway Round the Barn & Cider Mills to the
highway the Back door yard beginning at the Northwest Corner of the Dwelling
House Running Northerly Thirty Eight Links in the Range with the West End of
said house to a [illegible] tree from thence in a direct Line to the Northwest
Corner of the Line to the Barn All which to be held in Common with Nathan Also
in the home Lotts on the East Side being four hundred & Eighty Six Links in
Width at the highway & Extending to the North End of said Lott & is Five
hundred & Eleven Links in Width at the North End bounding southerly on the
highway, Westerly on Nathan Cadwell, North & East on Timothy Seymours Land.
Also the North half of the division fence now Standing on said Lotts said
piece of Land Contains five acres three Roods & two Rods of Land. Also the
North third part of the Garden being in Length one hundred Links from the West
End of the hosue & is in Breadth at the East End thirty four Links at the West
End thirty Links, also in the East pasture five acres of Land Set out on the
West End of said Lotts being in Width at Each End four hundred & forty Eight
Links. Bounding south on Asa Goodmans Lands, East on Nathan Cadwells Lands
North & West on Timothy Seymour Lands.
Also in the Mountain Lott in Farmington We Set out to her the North third
part of said Lot beginning at the Wood fence West of the highway Erected a
Cross said Lott three thousand three hundred & fifty six Links Westerly from
said highway & is in width at the East End two hundred & thirty five Links
Running westerly One thousand & thirty Links to a stake & stones one hundred &
thirty five Links South of the North side of said Lott thence Running Westerly

constitute and apoint Sole Executors of this my last will and testament,
hereby revoking all other and former wills by me at any time heretofore made.

said Rachel Wadsworth I give and bequeath unto William Wadsworth the son of
the said Rachel all my lands and buildings in the homestead where I now live
to him his heirs & assigns forever.
Item after the death of my said sister and the death or marriage of the
said Rachel I give and bequeath unto my niece Jerusha Hutchinson all my lands
lying over the Hog River at or near the first hill to her her heirs and
assigns forever.
Item after the death of my said sister and after the marriage or death of
my said niece Rachel Wadswroth I give all my Real Estate not before herein
devised to my three cousins the s'd Lucy Nancy & Caty to them their heirs and
assigns forever to be equally divided between them. And I do hereby make
ordain & appoint my sister Susanna Cadwell & the s'd Rachel Wadsworth
Executors of this my last Will & Testament herby revoking & making void all
former wills & bequeath and Establishing this only In Testimony whereof I
have hereunto [set] my hand & seal this Eight day of February A.D. 1791
