I have a Francis S. Cabiness born about 1820 in VA, married Elisa Ann Johnson on Jul 05 1849 in Walker co TX. They are in Montgomery co TX on the 1850 census with a son (John Henry) who was born that year. I cannot find this Cabiness family any after the 1850 census.

Elisa Johnson was the daughter of William Johnson and Mary Shay who came to TX in 1837 from Tuscaloosa co AL and settled near the town of Danville in the Republic of Texas' municipality called Washington. The following December, Montgomery county was carved out of this municipality.

I am at a loss as to what happened to Elisa and Francis Cabiness but maybe this information is something you were not aware of and may be of some help.
