Not sure if this is any relation but my GG-grandfather was Louis Burmeister that I have as born in Germany...but that is it. He had a daughter in 1885 born in Iowa(Matilda Dora Burmeister). In your info the 18 year old son (Louis) may be the same as my gg-grandfather. I wonder if Matilda's middle name was inherited from your Louis's younger sister (Dora)? Although a long shot, it may be possible that your g-grandpa and my gg-grandpa were brothers. Do you have you have any other info regarding Augustus's siblings.
