Still searching for parents or children of Byrd and Nancy(unknown) Bruce. Earliest I found him was in the 1840 census living in Davidson County Tn.(Nashville). Byrd, a carpenter, died in 1866 and is buried in Old City cemetery downtown.The 1840 census states that he and Nancy were born in North Carolina. By 1840 Byrd and Nancy had 5 sons and 2 daughters.Neighbors were James Mc Ginnis and Samuel S. Thompson in district 21, Davidson County,Tn.
Byrd may have not been his real name(nickname) or Byrd could have been a family name. I am "guessing" Byrd and Nancy married between 1820 and 1825, maybe in North Carolina or maybe in Tennessee.
I "believe" George Washington Bruce (my line) was one of their sons, but still trying to prove that. I have a beautiful family portrait of George and family that i would be willing to share.
Any descendants out there?
