Shirley, I, too, am very interested in Wm. P Brooks shown in the 1810 Edgefield, SC census as being b 1766-1784, w/ wife same age. He had 1 son b 1795-1800, and 5 other children (2 boys/3 girls)b 1800-1810. He is of the right age to be the Wm. Brooks in 1850 Cocke Co, TN census from which I descend. I am involved w/ a group who has had dna tests from Family Tree DNA shown to be R1a. My group of SC Brooks went to Cocke Co, TN around early- to mid-1820s. Many are still there, but some moved away after the Civil War. E. TN was an area which was greatly divided and many a brother fought against each other. Within our Brooks line we have a Wm P. Brooks b 1831 Cocke Co, TN found living w/ Matthew Brooks (1789 SC) in the 1850 Cocke Co, TN census. Wm P.(1831 TN) moved to Oglethorpe Co, GA after 1873. Would love to compare notes w/ you. Also, if there are ANY R1a Brooks who have tested w/ other labs, we would love to include you in our discussion group at BrooksFamilyDNA on Yahoo. Notify Administrator about this message?
