My surname is Adams and not Brooks but I have a 25 marker exact DNA match with a living Brooks who has participated in the Family Tree DNA project .His family states that they are decendants of James Brooks b. 1724 ,N.C. In the RootsWeb World Connect Project website there are six families listing descent from that James Brooks and I haven't been able to determine if my match is a member of any of those families or if any of those six families living Brooks has participated in any DNA project. The Family Tree Brooks DNA Project moderator hasn't been able to help either. My oldest known ancestor is Thomas Adams b. 1765 Va. I would appreciate any information that anyone could provide.
