DNA test results R1a Brooks from VA/NC/SC/TN

I am hoping everyone who posts might include in their Subject line (if they know) what DNA group their Brooks fall. This would help us all to know which lines are which and more closely apply to us.

Thru July 31, 2009 Family Tree DNA is offering a discounted price of $119 for 37-marker + mtdna (mother's line) test. We have several different I groups and two distinct R1a and R1b groups. This is helping us refine our paper-trails. This is one of the largest group of Brooks all working to sort thru the maze.

Many skilled Brooks researchers are finding lines they originally thought connected to their Brooks actually do not. Names often lead us in one direction because it sounds like a common family name. When we test the dna, however, we find out that we do not connect. My personal theory is that we have one Brooks line marrying into the other and that's why the R1a and R1b groups seem to follow the same naming patterns.

So, if you know into which DNA group your ancestors fall, posting such in the subject line might be very helpful. I have three BrooksFamilyDNA groups set up on Yahoo, too. If you have dna tested you're eligible to join. If you haven't, but you have cousins who have and you know which dna group you fall into AND have a proven paper-trail back 4 generations, we'd welcome your input.

Thanks,
Carol
