Hi. I am not related to the Brooks family, but found this information and thought it might be helpful to someone.

Taken from: DEEDS OF FRANKLIN COUNTY, GEORGIA 1784-1826
Abstracted and Compiled by Martha Walters Acker
Copyright 1976, Published by:Southern Historical Press
c/o The Rev. S. Emmett Lucas, Jr. Post Office Box 738
Easley, South Carolina 29640

Deed Book TT (29 Oct. 1811 – 30 April 1812)
Pages 68,69: POWER OF ATTORNEY dated 13 Jan. 1812, rec. 22 Feb. 1812, from JAMES BROOKS (X) of Franlin Co. to his trusty friend JAMES MARTIN of same. To recover from William Stanton of Pendleton Dist. S.C. four negroes named Bill, Jacob, Frank, George, children of a negro named Dina, who were given by Simon Tomason deceased to his daughter Margaret Tomason, now married to said Brooks. Wit: Micajah McGee, Tho's Brooks, Archablad Martin. Sworn to by Martin before W.F. Bagwell, J.P. 15 Feb. 1812.

Since both women and slaves are both execeptionally hard to trace, I hope this helps someone!!

Happy Hunting!
Lorrie Parham Burns
