A biography/family history of Major Edward G. Brooke is included in "Progressive Men of the State of Montana". Parents: Dr. Thomas F. and Mary (Coddington) Brooke, both natives of Maryland. ON 9 Apr 1846, Morgantown, WV, Edward married Miss Eliza Kiger, a native of Virginia. She died 14 Sep 1847, leaving a son, Fielding, who died at age 7 months. On 10 May 1852, St. Louis county, MO, Edward married Miss Elizabeth Wolverton, a native of Virginia, who died 19 Apr 1855, leaving one son, Walter C.W. On 31 Dec 1857, Edward married Miss Rachel Wolverton, native of Virginia. They had three children: Mary B. (Mrs. Noble, of Whitehall, MT); Marvin, deceased at age 13; Lulu L (Mrs. Rev. E.J. Stanley, Bitter Root Valley, MT).
