Ignatius R.(Roger) Brooke appeared in the 1820 census of Charles County, Maryland and in the 1830 census of Newton County, Georgia as Ignitius R. Brook. In both cases he had a family. An Ignatius R. Brook, Putnam County, Georgia participated in the 1820 land lottery in Georgia. There is a record in the LDS site of a marriage of Sarah Bowling to Ignatious Rogers Brooke in Henry County, Georgia in April 1830 and this may be a second wife. The LDS site also shows the death of an Ignatious Rogers Brooke in Alabama in 1838. He is believed to be my great-great grandfather. My great grandfather, James Brook, was born in December 29, 1829 and died in Monroe County, Mississippi on February 16, 1915. His wife was an Onie Priscilla Silas(maybe Sallis). My grandfather, Howard Quincy Brook, was born August 12, 1871 in Monroe County, Mississippi and died there on August 8, 1950. His elder brother was a Bowling Green Brook. Family lore says that an Ignatious Roger Brook(e) was from Maryland and moved to Georgia. It also says that James Brook, my great grandfather, was orphaned at an early age and was raised by an aunt and uncle family named Bowling and moved to Alabama and Mississippi. Lore also says that James Brook's wife, Onie Priscilla Silas, had Native American Ancestry. If anyone has additional information about these families, I would sincerely appreciate hearing from them.
