Hi,

The old document is hard to read, and the old handwriting styles are sometimes hard to decipher. My co-worker in Maryland went to the originals and read them again, then looked at some other documents concerning the same family, and she determined that it was Carrick, not Orrick.

I've got one case in KY where the name "William" was mis-read as "Matthew." Well, some of those old folks made their "w" look like "m" and maybe he made a flourish that was interpreted as crossing the "t's", and I've seen lots of "a's" that looked like "o", "e," "u", and even "i".
