My Beshers/Boshers/Brashears (different spellings) married my great, great grandmother: Nancy H. Billingsley December 4th 1852 in Lawrence County, Tennessee. I wrote to Lawrenceburg, Tennessee to get a copy of the record of their marriage.
This is how it went according to a Census. The U. S. Texas Census of 1860 reports Nancy H. Besheer (the spelling written-sometimes the census writer spells it incorrectly) with her two children: Elbert Besheer, and daughter, Mary Rebecca Besheer. Mary Besheer is with her mother, Rebecca Billingsley and other family. Both are without husbands. It was reported that they farmed for a lliving. There were other Billingsleys in that immediate area. And, there was the Mitchell family, of whom, her daughter, Mary Rebecca married my great grandfather, John R. Mitchell in Alvarado, Texas.
Perhaps, John Beshers/Besheer was in the Civil War and died and Nancy H, Besheer/Beshers went with her mom and family to Texas to farm. 0h, Elbert was born in Arkansas and Mary Rebecca Beshers was born in Texas, according to the 1860 U.S Census. So, maybe they lived in Arkansas for a while but I can't find a record of him in Arkansas. How did you find John Beshers birth? I just have their marriage record of 1852 in Tennessee.
Thank you for writing. I emailed Charles Brashear, the authority on this family two times and have not received an answer as yet. Thank you, and I look forward to hearing from you. I want to help you in yuor search. Thank you for replying to me!
