Soon-- Vol 6 or A Brashear Family History

       I'm working hard to get vol 6: "Brashears/Breshears Families of TN, MO, ID, WA, OK, etc" done. The book focuses on the supposed descendants of Middleton Brashears-- which included
Basil Brashears, Sr, b. c1765, NC;
John Brashears/Breshears, Sr, b. 1767, NC;
Henry Brashears/Breshears, Sr, b. 1769, SC;
and two of their phantom brothers:
?James Brashears, who was father of Middleton Brashears, the Younger, Nathan Turner Breshears, and Alexander Brashears;
and the parent of Berry Boshears (and others) of Arkansas.
       All of these families started in SC, moved to east-central TN, then on to Lawrence Co, TN, then to Benton and neighboring counties in Missouri. From there, they spread to Idaho, Washington, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and just about everywhere.
       The text is finished, the numbering is done, the index-marking is complete. All I have to do is put the pictures in place, draw a couple of maps, and format the thing for its final presentation (which may or may not be an agonizing travail; the book is over 600 pages long now and I have easily a hundred illustrations, which mess up the formatting and pagination every time you put something new in). That may or may not happen by Christmas.
       If you'd like, you could give people an empty box or envelope, with a note (or a lump of coal) that you'll replace the "nothing" with a book in just a short while. You could send me a check and I could mail the book directly to them, if you tell me what their names and addresses are.
       The other children of Basil Brashears (b. 1714, MD) and Anne Belt will have to wait until vol 7. These include William Brashears who m. Sarah ______ and lived in Spartanburg Co, SC (two of their sons will be big parts of that book: William Brashears, who m. Mary Elizabeth Clayton, and Ithra Brashears, who m. Hannah Elizabeth Middleton). Two other sons of Basil and Anne will also be featured: Robert Brashears and his Boshears descendants in TN, etc; and Jeremiah Brashears and his Beshears descendants in KY, etc. It think the text of this book is pretty well finished, but the numbering, the indexing, the maps and pictures are all yet to be done. Maybe I'll get it out early in 2005. DON'T ORDER IT YET.
       If any of you want a literary gift, you might consider some of my other books: my novel, "Killing Cynthia Ann," my short story collections ("Comeuppance at Kicking Horse Casino and Other Stories" ; and "Contemporary Insanities"), or even some of my books about the writing process. The easiest way to get a handle on this is to go to Amazon.com, to "books," and look up my name; OR visit my website www.CharlesBrashear.com.
       Thanks for the interest and support,
