Hi all, I’ve been putting finishing touches on two novels which (I think) are now ready to submit to a good publisher and eyeing askance (and with guilt) the manuscript of Vol 6 of A BRASHEAR(S) FAMILY HISTORY. This is the vol that was supposed to treat Basil Brashears and his Brashears, Breshears, Beshears, Boshears, and other descendants, especially the Henry and John Breshears families of Missouri. The book got too big, and I still have to add the pictures, maps, etc. The printer can only take a volume of 740 pages. The Breshears part of Basil’s descendants alone takes 563 pages (without introduction, pictures, and maps) and the Spartanburg component is big enough to make a book all by itself. So I’ve reluctantly divided the book into two. Vol 6 will now be “Brashears/Breshears Families of TN, MO, ID, OK, etc” (the ones I think are descended from Middleton Brashears) and will include some Beshears, some Boshears, and whatever else they decided to use as a spelling of the surname. The main divisions of this book are: -> Basil Brashears and Ann Belt, of MD, NC, and SC -> Middleton Brashears, son of Basil and Ann -> Basil Brashears Sr of White and Lawrence Co, TN and descendants -> John Brashears Sr and Mary Berry of Lawrence Co, TN and descendants -> Henry Breshears Sr and Eleanor ?Hardin of Lawrence Co, TN and their descendants, especially . . . John Breshears and Naomi Hogg . . . Henry Breshears Jr and Atsy Etheridge -> Jesse Breshears, the other brother who moved also to MO; -> the hypothetical brother (James?) who was father of Three Brothers of MO; . . . Middleton Brashears, the Younger . . . Nathan Turner Brashears/Breshears, . . . Alexander Brashears, who married Margaret Breshears, d/o Henry -> the phantom brother (Absalom?) who was probably father of . . . Berry Boshears of Arkansas, and others. Vol 7 will now be “Brashears Families of SC, MO, IL, etc” and will include the data I have on -> Robert Brashears, the ancestor of the Boshears families of Scott and Campbell Co, TN; -> William and Sarah Brashears of Spartanburg Co, SC and especially their two sons, . . . William Brashears who married Mary Elizabeth Clayton and moved to MO, and . . . Ithra Brashears who married Hannah Elizabeth Middleton and settled ultimately in Crawford Co, IL; -> Jeremiah Brashears whose family settled in Christian/Hopkins Co, KY and founded a Beshears dynasty. If anyone has any information on these families, please send it so I can check to see if my data is complete, and send any pictures you may have of any of these families, especially the old folks. (Through a dumb mistake, I lost many of those that people had sent me.) Vol 8 will now be a renumbered vol 7: “Brashear Families West of the Mississippi.” Vol 9 will now be “Additions, Corrections, Strays, and non-Brashears families.” As I said earlier: I did a dumb thing recently. My e-mail program, Eudora, sent me a pop-up saying that there was an updated version available and that it was better than an ice-cream cone in July. Well, I downloaded it, and it wrote over my e-folders where I had files of my correspondence for the last six months or so; plus many of the pictures that people had sent me as attachments. They’re gone. Poof! Cyberspace doesn’t leave any crumbs, and certainly no grave. Soooooo. If you sent me anything about the family since about January 1st, would you please send it again. I’ll try to be more responsible this time. I’d also appreciate it if you would SPREAD THIS WORD AMONG THE COUSINS. We need to get lots of people activated to correct my dumb mistake. Cheers, and thanks, Charles Brashear 1718 Arroyo Sierra Circle Santa Rosa, CA 95405-7762 707/545-3903 <brashear@mail.sdsu.edu> August 26, 2004 Notify Administrator about this message?
