The author of this 1956 Beale genealogy, Frances Beal (Smith) Hodges, was born in 1902. Were she still alive today she would be 104 going on 105! However, my research indicates that she passed away in 1982.
Much of the material she included in her book was submitted by other family historians. In her preface Mrs. Hodges stated, "My sole purpose in compiling this family history has been to prepare a source from which later Beale descendants would have a starting point in their individual research; thus, I have included every scrape of information that came into my possession . . ." Any errors, rather than being typos, are more likely the result of mistakes made by those who supplied the data to Mrs. Hodges.
I'm afraid it is much too late to make corrections to her text.
