Hello Everyone,
In the Southampton County, Virginia Marriage Bond Register page 542, a bond is listed, dated Dec. 27, 1844, for Brett (or Britt, or Britton) Burgess and Matilda Williams, noted to be over age 21. The security for the bond was provided by Drewry Beale. Does anyone know who the parents of Britton, or Matilda, or Drewry might be?? Any idea what the family connection of the Beales and the Williams may be?
Also can some one verify that this is Drewry junior, as he is listed in the Marriage Bond register as having been married twice: the first time to Eliza Edwards in 1816, the second to Mary Browne in 1832. I know there was a Drewry who shows up in the records much earlier and was mentioned in the will of Edmond Spencer as his son-in-law in his 1784 will.
All of these people would have been on the west side of the Nottoway in St. Luke's parish.
