Hi Beverley, Sorry I have not replied for so long but I have not been focesed on Family Tree matters recetly and I only noticed your message post Christmas. Caroline Farr did marry at Newport Pagnell in 1876 to Richard Battams.Caroline Farr is the mother of all of the children before and after her marriage. I am not certain that Richard was the father of the children before the marriage. The 1871 Census shows Richard Battams as Head of household, son George 14 born in Bedfordshire. It also shows in the same dwelling Caroline Farr( born Bedfordshire) as Head and five children all who have the Farr surname born in Fenny Stratford Bucks. The children were Edward (3months), Elizabeth 5, Henrietta 8, Harry 7, John 3. Farr was Caroline's maiden name , she was born at Aspley in Bedfordshire, there is no mention of her father on her birth certificate. I have been unable to find a marriage certificate for either Caroline or Richard marrying anyone else. However I did find a George Battams christened March 19th 1857 at Wavendon Bucks whose father was Richard and mother Hannah.I am not sure if this is the same family but the ages of the individuals do correspond, I presume Caroline moved in with Richard had 5 children and only later married Richard having Minnie, Joseph and Ada later.Sarah is not recorded on the 1881 census but she was definitely born before they were married. This is still an ongoing puzzle but I will inform you of any developments. I visited Newton Langville a couple of years ago, just a cluster of a few houses, church, butchers and a villge store and small Public House. If you look on the Buckinghamshire website there are some photographs of the village. Kind Regards Christine Notify Administrator about this message?
