Bachands in Vermont

Hi,

I am trying to track my family tree here in Northern Vermont and have hit a snag. Here is where I am stuck.

Me Mark J Bachand
Father David P Bachand
Grandfather Harold R Bachand 1908-1997
Grandmother Florence G. Guay 1911-2002
GrGrandfather Henry P Bachand 1878-1966
Henry was the first generation without the hyphenated Vertefeuille-Bachand last name.
GrGrandmother Emma L. LaFlam (also spelled LaFlamme)1882-1984
GrGrGrandfather Louis L Vertefeuille-Bachand 1835-1917

My grgrgrandmother has been recorded as having multipule first names but only one maiden name. The first names were Salome, Sarah or Catherine. The maiden name was Goodney. One of the few things that we do know for sure was that she was a Native American.

The word-of-mouth history is that Louis did not come from Canada. He came directly from France.

I also have a couple of other names that I can't figure out how they are related but their names are on a bunch of documents (as marriage witnesses and such) and they are in pictures with the rest of Henry's and Louis's generation. Those names are George Bachand and Charles Bachand.

Most of this branch of the family has settled in Swanton, St.Albans and Fairfax Vermont.

If anyone has any information please feel free to reply to this message or e-mail me directly at mse.bachand@worldnet.att.net

Thank you,
Mark Bachand
