My sister Bernadette wrote a book about the "Babin". It is called "Les Babin du Poitou à la Baie des Chaleurs" If you want more information I think I can still get a copy.
They first came from the Poitou Region in France, a village called La Chaussée. They settled in Acadia (Nova Scotia in Canada).
In 1755 they where deported. You find them on Gaspe Coast, In the Maritimes and in Louisiana mostly Today. Delphis Babin
