Charity Austin ma Solomon Vanvacter on 28 Jan 1816, she was born in MD. Solomon was from near Charles Town, Jefferson Co, WVA. There was a Bible inscription that had Charity Austin's mother as an Offutt with Owen relatives. This narrows the field, we think it was a dau of Nathaniel Offutt whose wife was Elizabeth Owen. Solomon Vanvacter's mother was Anne(Rachel) Offutt, his father, Joseph Vanvacter. Anne Offutt had a sibling, Elizabeth Burgess Offutt, who we think was Charity's mother. Charity Austin married her first cousin. Mrs. Johnston believed that Elizabeth Burgess Offitt's husband was Alexander Austin, the son of John Austin and Charity Kendrick. I have been to the Austin family website, there is a lot of info about the Austin family, but only a name for Alexander Austin. I don't have a Margaret Offutt but there was an Eleanore Edmonstone that married Edward Offutt, b art 1698, the eldest son of the immigrant, William Offutt. Edward died abt. 1749, his widow may have married again. There was a lot of widows marrying brothers and sisters of their deceased spouses in these familys. Thanks for the reply.
