Early Austin/Goff connection
Posted by: Frederic Goff (ID *****6904) Date: May 28, 2008 at 12:15:07

DNA results show a very high probability of a Goff-Austin relationship prior to 1763. My Goff line is documented back to Richard Goff in New London, CT in 1763, but there the trail disappears. The haplotype of me and a cousin who also traces back to Richard matches no known Goffs, but extensively matches Austin family lines at the 25, 37, and even 67 marker levels. I prefer to speculate that an Austin was adopted by a Goff, passing on the Goff name and the Austin genes, but of course there are other potential explanations.

Can anybody can shed any light on this?
