There have been endless debates about John Austin Sr. who married Hannah Love. Some say he married a Saponi Indian before who fathered 2 of his children, other's contend that Hannah Love was this Saponi and he only married once. At any rate This John Austin Sr. has a lot of documented activity in Lunenburg County, Virginia up until his will in 1759. My ancestor is a Mary "Molly" Austin who married Jacob Webb, son of John Webb 20 Apr 1694-Approx July 1736 who was living in New Kent and Henrico Counties. Per many sites, this Mary Austin is listed as a daughter of the aforementioned John Austin and Hannah Love. There is a registry entry in Saint Peter's Parish, New Kent County, Virginia, saying that a Mary Austin, daughter of John Austin was born November 4, 1723. This is about the right age for my Mary Austin (her husband Jacob was born about 1722 and their child, Henry Webb born about 1753.) Later Children include a Jane and a William Austin, children of most likely the same John Austin. Given that Jacob, Mary's Husband's family was in New Kent County during the early 1700's it stands to reason that this could be my Mary Austin. What doesn't make sense, however, is how people have her linked to John Austin who married Hannah Love. Was this John Austin the same John Austin who was registered in St. Peter's Parish? Earlier Entries in the parish logs show that there was also a James Austin in the late 1600's, early 1700's. Some sights also boast that John Austin who married Hannah Love is linked with a James Austin from Kent, England and that he was born March 27, 1701. Does anybody know the links between all these individuals or has the truth never been known, only subjugated to a lot of internet supposition? Landis Notify Administrator about this message?
