Judi,
I found the McGraths on the 1870 census in Mechanicsburg, pg. 252. Andrew is age 36, b. OH, a wood chopper, Polly A. is 28, b. NY, Newton is 4 & Charles is 2, both born Ill. On the same page is a Thomas Austin, 64, b. NY, Gertrude, 50, b. Germany, John, 14, b. Ill. & Bell Stevens, 7, b. Ill.
On the 1850 census in Springfield, Sangamon Co Illinois, pg. 80, is the only Polly Austin in the county. She`s age 8 & with Thomas, 41 & Elizabeth, 40, Austin & 6 other Austin children.
There is a member tree at Ancestry.com with this family. This tree gives Elizabeth Austin`s maiden name as Kelly. She also has Thomas Austin marrying a 2nd time to a Gertrude. The submitter of the tree is shirle06. she`s posted messages on the Sangamon message board at Ancestry/Rootsweb.
