Scott,

Look in the History of Fountain Run, Allen County, KY. As I remember, two couples wagon trained from NC. An Austin, maybe John and a Caruth man. They served in the war of 1812 together. The Caruth woman's maiden name was Austin. They were attacked by Indian's on the way and she was scalped but lived to have children. Also early Scottsville, Allen County, KY census show wealthy land owner Charles Austin. He left a will leaving all to his two brothers, WM and John. Going by memory but will help if you cann't find the info.
