I checked the census for your Austin family. Lewis Austin is on the 1910 census in McNairy Co., TN as L. E. Austain, age 24, with wife Thedo & kids Violet, Sallie, Myron & Louis. L. E. gives his birthplace as TN, his father`s as Georgia & his mother`s as Mississippi. On the census page his family is number 99; number 97 is the family of E. C. Austain, a female, age 58, b. MS. With her are Bunyon, son 23, his wife, Millie, their child Lura, daughter Live or Lou, 38 & daughter Vivie, 18 as well as a grandson Byron, 17. Bunyon, Live & Vivie all give their father`s birthplace as Georgia & their mother`s as MS. I believe L.E. is their brother.
In 1900 in McNairy Co. Ellen Austin, 48, b. MS, is head of household with her children daughters Lou ,29, & Vivie, 8, sons Harry, 16 & Benjamin, 13 (Bunyon). Also there is Byrne Edwins, 7, grandson. No Lewis. But there is a Lewis E. Austin, 16, in Alcorn Co., Mississippi listed as a nephew of J. T. Smith, 54. Could be your Lewis, visiting family.
In 1880 in McNairy Co, TN. there is a J. H. Austain, 38, b. GA with wife Elmina C., 28, b. MS & children Luesa, 8, Mary,6, & Delila, 3. I think this is the same family as on the other later record. In 1870 in McNairy Co. there is a John C. Austin, 57, b. GA, with Mary A., 63, b. NC, Sarah, 36, Emily, 26, John H., 25 & Lewis C., 21, all born GA.
This John C. Austin & family on the 1870 is, I believe, included in a database at the Austin Families Association of America website. The page is here:
