Just had to answer your post...because my name is william astin and my grandfather's name was william. I don't know if there could be a connection or not. I only have my great grand father George Astin and my grand father William. In Southern Illinois...I have record of a Walter Astin buying land in Franklin and Massac county Illinois in 1839. He could be my great great or at least a relative. I don't know where your William is from, but if you have any questions, I would be happy to give you any info I have. I am curious to know where the Southern Illinois Astins came from.
