Looking for info on Astins in Illinois. What I have is My Great Grandfather's civil war muster record. He was 34 years on when he enlisted in the 29th Ill. Infantry in 1861, was discharged in Aug. 1864. I also found a Walter Astin land purchase of 1839 in Massac and Franklin Counties. My grgrndfather was George Astin..variations on the name I know for sure are astin,aston,austin,ashton, askins. I can find none of them in the censuse reports for Illinois. If anyone has any info I would appreciate hearing from you. I have info on the Minters, Reads and Johnsons, and Manleys connected with the astins.
