My grandfather's name was also Francesco Altomare. He had brothers named Carmine and Gabrielle. All were born in Rogliano. There are hundreds of Altomares in the area, and several variations of the spelling. For example, my cousin Rosa Altomare married an Enrico Altomari. One of their daughters,
Marianna Altimari married a Gianfranco Altomare.
Francesco came to this country around the turn of the century and settled in West Virginia. In a family-arranged marriage, he married Teresa Pignanelli, daughter of Saverio Pignanelli and Caterina Angotti, both from San Giovanni Fiore, which, I believe is fairly close to Rogliano.
