I have watched your postings with interest. Your Althauses are not mine, I believe. In fact, I spent the better part of a day in Fredericksburg with Dudley Althaus, Dr. Christian's gr gr grandson (?) about 30 years ago!
I am wondering if, in all your searches of Althauses, you found a Peter Althaus (1819) and Anna Catherine Mueller or Miller Althaus (1816) and their 5 children. They immigrated from the Kur Hessen Darmstadt area (Marburg area?) in the 1855 to 1860 timeframe to northern Illinois? Peter is my gr gr grandfather of the same generation of your Christian. The town handed down through the generations is Sempsakussen (phonetic?).
I can find four of the children listed on ships but no town of origin.
