My great grandfather Robert Williamson Alison is the son of James Alison shoe maker and Jane Scott. He was born around 1843-1846 and his birthplace is shown on the 1881 Census as Dunkeld. I have been unable to find any record of his birth or of his parents' marriage but I think they were Free Church and therefore not on the Parish Register. Does this seem familiar to anyone?
Any help will be gratefully received!
