I am looking for any information on Charles Adams. b. about 1870 + - . He was possibly born in Missouri, or, possibly around Spiro, OK. The only known relative was his full sister, Sarah Agnes Adams, also born either in Missouri, or Spiro, Oklahoma. The only known reference to him is in his sister Sarah’s obituary of 01 Mar 1934 in Johnson County, AR. At that time, he lived in Spiro, OK. The obit. says Sarah was born in Spiro, OK. Some family members say they were both born in Missouri, their parents died when they were small, and may have gone to be with relatives in the Spiro, Leflore County, OK .
They were orphans, raised by other family members. The only reference that I have found as a possibility is the 1880 census for Roseville, Logan, Arkansas, USA. The DOB of Sarah is 25 Dec 1873 which matches the child in Roseville. The head of the house was a Jesse Adams, half brother to Sarah and Charles. That Sarah and Charles also have sister Susan. Others reported in the house in that census were Deen/Dean children, a G W McAdoo, Jesse’s wife M D and two of his children, S J and Rosette and Jesse’s brother Matthew and sister Lucinda. It appears that several groups of orphan children may have been there with their only known common relative Jesse. It is unknown if the G W McAdoo is related, though it appears he was also an orphan with siblings in other homes in Logan County, AR.
At that census, Jesse was ill with chills, possibly malaria, and I have been unable to find a trace of him or his children except for that census.
The LDS search site Family Search lists a Charles Adams born in 1872, living in Idel, Logan, Arkansas, USA as being married to a Mary E Riddle on 08 Mar 1891 in Logan County, Arkansas. It is unknown if this is the same Charles.
The Sarah Agnes Adams is my GM. Any information at all will be appreciated.
