I am doing some research on my ties to John Adams and Margaret Ann Gill. John Adams b. 28 May 1802, Lexington VA d. 27 Apr 1870 Saline MO married Margaret Ann Gill b. 15 Nov 1814, Danville, Gerrard, KY d. 2 Oct 1864. I descend from one of their daughters, Mary Jane Adams b. 3 Feb 1834. I know she married a Valentine Livingston Stevens and had at least one child, Ada Livingston Stevens. I know a bit about John Adams' family ancestors, dates, etc. I would love to find out more about Valentine Stevens' line. He seems somewhat enigmatic. In an 1860 census in St. Charles, Missouri, Mary Jane Stevens(26) and her daughter Ada L. are living with her parents John Adams(57) and mother Margaret A. Adams (45). There are several others listed as Stevens' but now I am wondering if those children might not be Adams. They are Susan 24, Sally E. 21, John G. 19, James 17, Lucy Ann 16, Ruth 13, Clara 10 and Emma 8. There is also a teacher, Benjamin Emery, 24. I am trying to discover if these really are children of John Adams and Margaret Ann Gill. Notify Administrator about this message?
