Hello Bill, I recently visited the courthouse in Zanesville and found within the Estate Packet for Denton Adams the following statement by the appraisers: The deceased having left a widow and two children under 15 years of age we set off for their use one stove and the furniture therof one bible and other books kept and used a family library and not of the value of one hundred dollars one cow The wearing apparel and ornaments of the family and deceased All the beds, bedsteads, and beading and cooking utensils in and about the premises, the same being necessary for the use of the family The widow selecting as other personal property we set the same off to her one colt $25.00 The interest of the deceased in about 3 acres of corn $10.00 And money to make up the sum of $100 $65.00 March 2, 1867 William Wright John Ellener Harvey Evans, Appraisers. ----------------------------- There is also an affidavit by Abraham Adams, father of Denton Adams, that he handed Isabella and Laura Maria Adams each a copy of the "within notice" on the 25th of February 1867. I don't understand what this notice was but it indicates that Isabella and Laura Maria Adams were the only surviving children at the time of Denton's death. Contact me directly with your mailing address and I am more than happy to send copies of what I have. Jan Notify Administrator about this message?
