Hartwell Adams married Rebecca Barnes December 18, 1821 in Greensville Co. VA with Littleton Chambliss as Surety. (The 1830 Sussex Census shows a son between 5-10 years of age. What was his first name? Does anyone have this male in their family?) I also show that following Rebecca's death, Hartwell Adams first married Martha Long May 30, 1833 Sussex Co. and then lastly Hartwell married Fanny Underwood April 17, 1838 and Rev. Green Adams performed this marriage ceremony in Southampton Co. and recorded in Sussex Co.
Rev. Green Adams married Martha Newsom February 23, 1808 in Greensville Co. By 1850 Green Adams had passed away and Martha Adams was residing in the home of her nephew Rev. Thomas Moore Newsom in Southampton Co.
To note further the Newsom, Adams and Barnes:
1. Bennett (Benjamin) Barnes married Susanna Simmons Whitehorn February 17, 1815 Sussex Co. The surety was Charles S. Newsom
2. Rev. Thomas Moore Newsom above married Priscilla Prince the daughter of David Prince and Nancy Mason. David Prince's parents: Joseph Prince and Priscilla Adams. (Rev. Thomas Moore Newsom was half brother and second cousin to my great grandmother Eliza Newsom that married Thomas R. Mason.)
Joseph Prince and Priscilla Adam's daughter Martha married Edward Phillip Bailey the son of Edmund Bailey and Rebecca Clanton. Rebecca the daughter of my third great grandmother Sarah Meglamre by Sarah's first marriage to John Clanton. I am descended from Sarah's second marriage to Edward Whitehorn.
Richard Barnes (Jr.) married Elizabeth Adams November 2, 1820 Sussex Co. We know there was a Richard Barnes, son of *Richard Barnes who died 1825 Greensville Co. VA. He is shown as a boy in Richard Barnes' 1820 Greensville Census and then when James Blanks died 1830 Greensville, this Richard Barnes was named the first administrator of the estate. (*Richard Barnes Sr. was the son of John Barnes Sr. and Susanna Blanks. John Barnes and Susanna Blanks my third great grandparents.)
Charles Mason married Mary P. Adams April 10, 1810 Sussex Co. (Charles Mason the grand nephew of my third great grandfather Christopher Mason who married Sarah Chappell. Charles Mason also a brother to Patsy Mason who married John Prince. John Prince was a brother to Joseph Prince who married Priscilla Adams. Charles and Patsy Mason both siblings of Frederick Mason whose daughter Nancy above maried David Prince.)
John Benjamin Norsworthy (son of Willis Norsworthy and Parthenia Balthrop who married 02 Mar 1798 Warren Co. NC) married Nancy R. Adams. Willis and Parthenia my second great grandparents.
Richard, Bennett and Rebecca Barnes above were all siblings of my second great grandmother Lizza "Elizabeth" Barnes who married Henry Mason.
I hope everyone's head isn't hurting by now. I have more Adams connections to my other lines.
