John T. Adams - World War I casualty from South Carolina

Am seeking information on John T. Adams who was a WWI casualty from South Carolina - possibly Ware Shoals OR Spartanburg Co. I believe he may have been in the SC National Guard, Co. D, 118th Infantry. He is memorialized on a military monument in Spartanburg. I'm writing a book about the soldiers listed on this monument and have been unable to find anything definite on this man. Any information would be most appreciated.
