I could be way off, but--after looking at the 1860 Census, I believe all the children there are children of Sally Adams Bennett , they all show sur name of Adams, and she evidently was a widow who married Richard Bennett. And Rachel is 12 not 42.
In 1870 Census still in Henry Co., there is a Rachel Adams with a William Harper family--a Sarah Adams with another Harper family--and Nancy Adams with still another Harper family.
Maybe Sarah Adams Bennett's maiden name was Harper ??
I checked the 1850 Census for an Adams family and found a Sarah (Sally) the correct age, with husband David age 50. They have 12 children ranging in age from 22 through 2 & including a Susan, George, and Rachel. Sarah Jane and Nancy O were both born after 1850. So it is possible, but would take some more checking to determine if it is correct or not.
