I am also trying to determine if there is Cherokee in the Adair family. I have read this on the internet, but I can't find proof yet. The only thing I know is that Joseph Alexander Adair had a son named Joseph Alexander too. He had a daughter named Mary Elisabeth Adair who married Peter Battoe. Their son was William who married Mary Arick. They had a daughter named Martha Jane Battoe who married Samuel Wiley Farrow. Their daughter was Martha Catherine Farrow, who is said to be of Cherokee Indian descent. I know she came from Canada and was educated there and spoke French fluently. I just can't figure out why they were in Canada. They came from Ireland, lived in Trigg County, Kentucky, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, etc. Does this sound familiar to anyone?
Thank you,
Angela Ansley
