I am in possessoin of a paper done in l962 by a cousin showing my Abercrombie, James Floyd Abercrombie married Julia Etta Byxbe. Her family supposedly married into the Nurse family, which would make us descendants of Rebecca Town Nurse, one of the famous witch trial victims. I have not been able to prove it, becasue the Nurse famlies all had children with same names, through many generations. I will outline what I have, but wonder if anybody else has/can prove or disprove this line. I spent several days trying to run this front to back and then back to front, and keept getting confused.
Here's what I have:
Rebecca Towne m. Franacis Nurse (Rebecca Nurse burned as witch in Salem)
Son Benjamin Nurse married Tomasin Smith
Son Benjamin Nurse married Elizabeth Haven
Daughter Thomasine Nurse married Abner Bixby
Ebenezer Bixby married Hannah Babcock
Rev War Soldier Joseph Byxbe married Elizabeth Jorddan
William James Byxbe married Elizabeth Bowman
Julia Etta Byxbe married Jamse Floyd Abercrombie.
Has anyboy else done any research to verify or disprove this line? My great aunt got this from somerelatives in Oklahoma in the l970s I think.
