I really don't get the thrust of your post? It is as though you posted...12" equals one foot...so? Specifically, Pennsylvania Deutsch (German) is often "incorrectly" used to refer to Dutch ancestry living in Pennsylvania. Many confuse the use of the term. The term was often used as an attempt to disguise Indian or infrequently, tri-racial descent. Anglo-Americans loosely applied the term to any dark-complexioned American of European descent. By the mid-1800s the term was often used as a derogative term denoting certain individuals for "various" reasons. Your point regarding Beck vs Peck has no relevance to my posts. Specifically, Mary Ann Beck was a full-blooded Indian. My posts stand as correctly posted. Your statement regarding Pennsylvania Deutsch/Dutch is generally correct, but doesn't add anything to my posts on Mary Ann Beck. She was a full-blooded Indian I have known the difference between Deutsch/Dutch some 30 years ago. Tony Schoonover
